The Optical Receiver Rack
The
purpose of the rack is to convert the optical signal from the antennas
into 4-8 GHz electrical signals to feed the IF processor. It also can
substitute a noise source to all 12 signals simultaneously, in order to
calibrate the bandpasses of the following equipment.
The rack is mounted in the correlator room, vertically on the future WB
correlator table.
It accepts 12 E2000/APC connectors on its back panel
(bottom, actually) :
Every input has a red LED that gets off when the laser
signal is present with sufficient power. The back panel also holds a yellow LED that blinks when CAN is
active, and a pair of LEDs to indicate wether IF or noise source is
selected.
For convenience these LEDs are repeated on the front (top, actually)
panel.
Detailed information on the monitor&control section can be found in
the Fo-Rx manual.

noise source level or to inject a test signal.
