The IRAM ARC node

IRAM is a node of the European ALMA Regional Center (ARC). Based on the existing support activities for the Plateau de Bure interferometer and the involvement of the institute in the ALMA construction, IRAM is developping a support center dedicated to the ALMA interferometer. Our main tasks are:

  • User formation
  • User face-to-face support
  • New developments
  • ALMA commissioning
  • ALMA software development

These tasks and the projects we are currently working on are presented in more details in a dedicated page.

ARC audience

The ARC node is a new service provided by IRAM to its community. It is done on behalf of the IRAM Council and the IRAM funding agencies: Max-Planck-Geselschaft (MPG, Germany), Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS, France), Instituto Geográfico Nacional (IGN, Spain).

Just like the IRAM telescopes are open to the whole astronomical community, the ARC services will be open to all interested scientists, especially in Germany, France, and Spain. Financial support for astronomers travelling to Grenoble to reduce their data will be available, following the same rules as those currently used for the Plateau de Bure interferometer.
