MPIfR 37-channel bolometer installed

Beginning of January 1998, the 1.3 mm 37-channel bolometer of the Max-Planck-Institut für Radioastronomie (MPIfR), Bonn, has been installed at the 30m telescope by the MPI team (E. Kreysa and co-workers) and IRAM staff. After a period of technical tests, the bolometer is now used for astronomical observations, and it is planned to use it throughout the bolometer period. The 19-channel bolometer which has been available in previous years is in stand-by and can be installed quickly in case of problems with the 37-channel bolometer.
