| Abstract : | |||||||
| We present results obtained with the VLBA on angular broadening in galaxies other than our own. | |||||||
| This is a unique way to investigate the ionized gas in these galaxies. The radiation from a distant | |||||||
| background source (a quasar) is scattered by the fluctuations in the ionized gas in the foreground | |||||||
| galaxy. The selected quasar lines-of-sight pass through a variety of galaxy environments, such as | |||||||
| HI halos, disturbed "tails", and the edges of optical disks. | |||||||
