The radiolink between Granada and the 30m telescope has been replaced by a new unit. The old radiolink started to show intermittant failures in February 2003. Unfortunately, the supplier did not offer to repair the equipment. However, the Instituto de Astrofisica de Andalucia had used such a radiolink before and we received from them material to replace the failing units. Since May 7th, 2003 we are using the replacement.
We also modified the remote observing software such that remote observing via ISDN (possible from Grenoble and Bonn) is now done by dialing directly the telescope and not the Granada ISDN line. As there is no technical support we are nevertheless investigating alternatives, e.g., based on the "free" 2.4 GHz frequency.
