ALMA Early Science - Proposal Preparation

IRAM Grenoble May 24, 2011

(Last modification: April 5, 2011)

The first call for proposals for ALMA Early Science (Cycle 0) has been issued on March 30, 2011 with a proposal deadline of June 30, 2011. In order to assist prospective users in the preparation and submission of their proposals, the IRAM ARC node is organizing a workshop on Tuesday May 24, 2011 at IRAM Grenoble. The program will include:

  • A presentation of the ALMA Cycle 0 capabilities (the Cycle 0 Technical Handbook will be released on May 15, 2011)
  • An overview of the tools and resources available to the ALMA users
  • A detailed presentation and hands-on tutorial of the Observing Tool

The Observing Tool (OT) is the software required to prepare and submit proposals. Any ALMA user must therefore be familiar with the Observing Tool.

If you are interested in attending this workshop, please contact Cathy Berjaud (berjaud@iram.fr) as soon as possible. The number of participants will be limited. Participants are expected to bring a laptop with the OT installed (see instructions on the ALMA Science Portal at almascience.eso.org).

This meeting is mainly intended for scientists from the IRAM community (France, Germany, Spain). Please note that other ARC nodes are organizing similar workshops in Europe - check the ESO ARC web at www.eso.org/sci/facilities/alma/arc/
